Lagos State Police command yesterday foiled an attempt to rob a new generation bank in Apapa, Lagos yesterday.
However, a young man, who was on his way to the banking hall to carry out banking transactions, was shot to death by the hoodlums.
The robbers had trailed the customer to the bank before they opened fire on him immediately he left the banking hall, suspecting the bag he was carrying was full of money.
An eyewitness said that the victim, 25-year-old Kingsley Chukwudi from Imo State, was killed in his prime.
“The young man is a security guard for our company here in Apapa. He was carrying his laptop bag and the robbers thought he was going to deposit money into the bank but the young man was just carrying his laptop bag.
Apapa is like a theatre of war now. The body of the young man has been taken to Area B Police Command in Apapa and a lot of people are crying because he was a very good person,” the eyewitness said.
