Seven People Feared Dead As Building Collapses In Anambra

At least seven persons were feared dead and several others injured as a two- storey building collapsed at Ogidi, near Onitsha on Wednesday.
A source told Punch that three persons died on the spot while four died on their way to the hospital while many others sustained varying degree of injuries.
The two-storey building was still under construction at Ikenga Ndiagu village, in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state and trapped the workers therein.
The building which was at the second floor stage, collapsed at about 4.30 p.m.
The copses of the victims were deposited at Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital Morgue, Ogidi, while those who sustained injuries were admitted at the intensive care unit of the hospital.
It was gathered that its landlord whose name was given by security agencies as Marcel Amumba was helping the police.
Amumba was said to be inspecting work at the second floor of the building when it collapsed and he sustained minor injuries but was treated before finding himself in the police custody.
